the practice or policy of providing equal access to opportunities and resources for pople who might otherwise be excluded or marginalized, such as those having physical or intellectual disabilities or belonging to other minority groups.

As a mental health professional I celebrate peoples full intersectional identities. Developing a fully inclusive and anti-oppressive practice is the ultimate goal here at Through the Woods Counseling. Core tenants at this practice include social justice, equity and inclusion. I am intentional about lifting the voices of the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ community members and aim to preserve the integrity, dignity, and autonomy for all people throughout the therapeutic process.

 

Discrimination and prejudice is systemic and includes but is not limited to ageism, ableism, homophobia, xenophobia, sexism and racism. Therefore, my work aims to deconstruct the barriers that exist and reclaim client's voices, resiliency and power.

Seeking therapy can be a vulnerable process. I understand and aim to make it smoother and safer for people in marginalized communities. As a mental health professional it is important for me to be advocate for those who feel impacted by these dynamics.

Through the Woods Counseling recognizes and acknowledges that it is located within the traditional homelands of the Kalapuya. Following the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855, Kalapuya people were forcibly removed from their homeland and relocated to reservations in Western Oregon. We respect and honor the stewardship and hospitality of the Kalapuya.
